The library is the liveliest place in the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship. The mission of the Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. The library was established in 2001 during the gauhati university campus period. Bodoland university central library was upgraded in 2009 along with the upgradation of GU kokrajhar campus into state university (Bodoland Unversity). The BU library was was confined in single room after establishment, In 2013 12th august the library was shifted in multi storeyed building. The library has has grown in terms of infrastructure and facilities during the past few years the formal functioning of the library started in may 2013 with the joining of library professional assistant and library assistant The library plans to enhance its quality of services and capacity in near future by implementing several new technologies and capacity building. In 2015 the central library was named as Padma shri Madaram Brahma central library.

Library has implemented library management system software SOUL 2.0 with barcode based circulation system, the issue return of the books is now being converted into automated system. Academic community of the university is provided with necessary reference / information service based on their specific needs. The library has digital collection of e-journals and internet facilities. Gifted books, thesis and m.phil dissertations from library users are also been collected to serve the various academic purpose. The library is growing from the grass root level in order to provide access to knowledge and information for the users.
